Lipstick-Obsessed Ghost Haunts Philly College House
So, at my college house in Philadelphia, a few of my roommates and I swore that it was haunted.
Little things would happen out of the corner of everyone’s eye, but we always tried to play it off as just a shadow or something. I had quite a few experiences on the third floor in the tiny bedroom that I had my junior year. I would be using something, for example a lipstick or hairbrush, and after I put the item down on something it would go missing the next time I would need it. Eventually, it would turn back up in the most outrageous place.
One specific example is I was doing my makeup for Halloween, and my friends were also in my room. I had just finished putting on lipstick and had set it back down on my desk while I went to look in the mirror across the room. After I had returned to my desk the lipstick was nowhere to be found. I went through all the makeup on my desk, knocking everything over to find this lipstick. My friends even started looking with me. Thinking maybe I had taken it with me over to the mirror, I began to walk back over to that side of the room. At that moment my friend who was in the room with me said my name very slowly and I turned around to see this lipstick standing up perfectly right in the middle of my desk. The weirdest part is this lipstick isn’t really meant to stand up. It has a rounded top and bottom so the fact that it was able to stay up like that after I had destroyed my desk looking for it was crazy.
But, this is not the only reason my roommates and I believe the house to be haunted.
The following year, my senior year, I was able to move to the second floor into a larger room. Our new roommate moved into the third floor room I had previously had. One night after coming home from the bar, she awoke to a man standing over her in a trench coat and old-timey hat. She immediately ran to the bathroom and called her parents to tell them that someone was in her room. They did not answer her call since it was around 3 a.m., but she left them a voice mail. She returned to her room and fell asleep.
A few days later we found out that her parents ended up listening to the voice mail and calling the police, who showed up at our door asking about a man on the third floor. All of the other girls in the house were unaware of what had happened, so we told the police we did not know what they were talking about. The freaky part is right after my roommate told me what she saw my other roommate came into my room and said that for the past couple of months she was seeing this ghost in her room. I asked what it looked like thinking maybe she was just seeing shadows…. but she described the ghost as being tall, wearing a long coat and a old hat.
Needless to say I’m happy I graduated and got out of that house.
